Organization members are the people who work together in your Biocompile organization. You invite them by email, give each a role of Owner, Admin or Member, and group them into teams. Teams control who sees a project and which approval policy applies.

## Roles

Each member has one of three roles, shown in the **Role** column of the member list.

| Role | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Owner | Holds the organization. Can transfer ownership. |
| Admin | Manages members and organization settings. |
| Member | Works in projects and files the organization shares with them. |

Transferring ownership makes another member the owner and demotes you to admin. The **Transfer Ownership** control in the organization settings asks you to **Select new owner**, then **Transfer**. Biocompile shows "Ownership transferred".

## Invite a colleague

Invitations go out by email and can be revoked until they are accepted.

1. Open the member list and choose **Invite Member**.
2. Enter the colleague's address under **Email**.
3. Choose a **Role**: **Member** or **Admin**.
4. Optionally choose a team under **Team (optional)**.
5. Choose **Send**.

Result: Biocompile shows "Invite sent", and the invitation appears in the list with the status pending.

An invitation has one of four statuses: pending, accepted, revoked or expired. For a pending invitation, open the row's actions menu and choose **Revoke invite**. Biocompile shows "Invite revoked". The same menu offers **Copy email**.

### Allowed email domains

An organization can list **Allowed email domains** in its policies. When the restriction is enforced, the invite form shows "Only emails from:" followed by the domains, and any other address is refused with "Email domain must be one of:" and the list. When domains are listed but not enforced, the form says "Domain restriction is configured but not enforced". In the member list, a warning marks an address whose domain is not allowed.

## Manage members

The member list shows each person with their role and teams. Use **Search by name or email** and the **All roles** filter to find someone. A counter shows how many of the members are listed.

Open the actions menu on a row to change a member:

- **Promote to Admin** raises a member to admin.
- **Demote to Member** lowers an admin to member.
- **Remove from Organization** removes the person. Choose **Confirm Removal** to finish.

Biocompile confirms with "Role updated" or "Member removed". The owner's row has no removal action.

## Teams

A team groups members inside the organization. Choose **Create Team**, enter a **Name** such as Genomics Lab and an optional description. Biocompile shows "Team created". Team settings hold the name, the description and an optional approval policy that overrides the organization default.

Deleting a team does not remove its members from the organization. Projects restricted to that team become accessible to all organization members. To delete a team, type its name to confirm.

## Delete an organization

Deleting an organization permanently removes the organization and all its data. Type the organization name to confirm. Biocompile shows "Organization deleted". This cannot be undone.

## Limitations

- An invited address must match the allowed email domains when the restriction is enforced.
- The owner cannot be removed or demoted from the member list. Transfer ownership first.

## Troubleshooting

### "Invalid email format"

The address in **Email** is not a valid email address. Correct it and choose **Send** again.

### "Failed to send invite"

Biocompile could not send the invitation, and the message gives the reason. Fix the cause it names and try again.

### "Failed to update role"

The role change did not save. Reopen the actions menu and try again.

## Common questions

### How do I invite someone to my organization?

Choose **Invite Member** in the member list, enter their email, pick a role and choose **Send**. The invitation stays pending until your colleague accepts it or you revoke it.

### Can I limit invitations to my company's email domain?

Yes. List the domains under **Allowed email domains** in the organization policies and enforce the restriction. The invite form then refuses addresses from other domains.

### What happens to projects when I delete a team?

The projects stay. Projects that were restricted to the team become accessible to everyone in the organization, and the team's members remain in the organization.
