Agent profiles: persona, skills and memory for the assistant
Last updated
On this page
A Biocompile agent profile defines who the assistant is when it works for you: its persona, the skills and executables it may use, and the memories it can draw on later. Create one when a group or a kind of work needs the assistant to behave consistently, for example a concise profile for literature scans and a thorough one for analysis review.
Manage profiles
Open Agents → Agent Profiles. Each profile has its own tab. Choose New to create a profile, which starts as “New Agent”. The actions on a tab duplicate a profile, as “Copy of” followed by its name, or delete it. Deleting asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.
A tag shows who can use a profile: Core, Org or Private. A profile you cannot edit carries a Read only tag, and a profile managed in Git is marked Git managed.
Each profile has panels for Persona, Capabilities and Memory.
Persona
The persona panel defines the profile’s identity. Write what you would tell a new teammate about context, conventions and what matters most. You can also set:
- Style: Concise, Balanced or Thorough.
- Autonomy: Ask first, Collaborative or Proactive.
- A profile image, icon and color. Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image of 5 MB or less.
Choose Save Changes to keep your edits.
Capabilities
The capabilities panel sets what the profile may use:
- Skills: select the skills the profile is allowed to use. Biocompile skills are available to every organization; organization skills are the ones your organization created.
- Executables: platform operations the agent can run. Required operations stay on; you can switch optional ones on or off for each profile.
- Organization pipelines: allow the agent to discover and run organization pipelines it can access.
An item that your security policy or your personal preferences forbid is marked as blocked, and the label names the reason.
Memory
Memory holds preferences, lessons, references and facts that the agent can use in later conversations. Each memory shows its Kind (Preference, Lesson, Reference or Fact), its Status (Active or Dormant), its Confidence, its Source and when it was Updated. The source is Manual for a memory you added, Reflection for one the agent drew from a session, or System.
- Choose Add to write a memory yourself.
- Search the list with Search memories….
- Edit a memory, switch it on or off, or delete it. A deleted memory is removed from the profile and the agent no longer retrieves it.
- Choose Reflect recent to have the agent review recent sessions of this profile that it has not reflected on yet. A message reports how many sessions it processed and how many memories it created.
Use a profile in a conversation
Choose a profile with the profile picker in the conversation. A conversation keeps its profile once it has started.
Common questions
Can I change the profile of a conversation that has started?
No. A conversation keeps its profile once it has started. Start a new conversation to use another profile.
Why is a skill or executable marked as blocked?
Your organization’s security policy or your personal preferences forbid it. The label names the reason.
Does the agent forget a memory I delete?
Yes. A deleted memory is removed from the profile and the agent no longer retrieves it.
